I have had a few readers reach out about needing money fast, so this week I am going to send a few ideas on quick ways to get a boost with your money. Today, take a few moments and go on a money hunt. Look everywhere around your home, car and even online. It’s up to you how long you spend doing it. Below are some suggestions for where to find money online and off. OnlineI’ll start with where to hunt for money online because if you’re reading this, you’re online. The first few you would have read in recent emails, but there's more further down. Bank BonusesIf you haven’t already joined Up Bank for free, you can here and get $21 instantly. ING offers $100 with the code CNW116 for new customers opening a savings account. Get all the details here. Cashback ProgramsMany people sign up, use them once or twice then forget about them. Check your cashback programs or if you haven’t joined them yet, get started. Join, add them to your Chrome bar, and download the apps (they have instructions on how to do this). Any time you shop online, activate whichever cash back option has the best offer. They are all free to join and shopping through them means buying whatever you were planning to buy but you click to go to the site through them to activate the offer. Coupert: they offer a bonus plus scan for better prices elsewhere. Honey: Get cash back and scan for coupons or discounts for whatever you are buying with Honey. SwagBucks: This is an online survey site as well as a cash back site. Online Survey SitesAnother one many sign up for, do a few surveys then forget about. Check all the online survey sites you have used to see if you can cash out. Here are some of the most popular ones: Octopus Group: The highest paying online survey site in Australia plus they now offer $45 to $120 an hr for market research. Get gift cards or cash payments when you cash out. They pay over $16hr per survey but most surveys are only a few minutes. I have a full review with tips for Octopus Group here. Swagbucks: Get gift cards or PayPal payments for completing surveys, playing games, watching videos, shopping, the daily poll and more. Pureprofile: I get a lot of surveys but often screened out. However, even if you get screened out, you still get 10c. PrizeRebel: Pays in USD via PayPal. Find all the online survey sites I have tested, can recommend and which to avoid here. Loyalty/VIP/Reward ProgramsAnother one you might forget to check is your loyalty programs. Aside from Everyday Rewards and Flybuys, check the shops and programs you’ve signed up for to see if you are eligible for any vouchers. We have a list of popular Aussie ones here. Check PayPal and Other Online PlatformsIf you have PayPal, Payoneer or any other online platform, check it to see if you have any forgotten money in there. Apps and ServicesCheck every app you have to see if there is money sitting in there. Some apps I have used the services then got cashback or there was an issue or something didn’t process correctly and money has been sitting there instead of being refunded properly. You can ask them to convert it to an actual refund too. They might not do it but some will. Lost Super and Other MoneyCheck in your MyGov account if you have any ‘lost’ superannuation accounts or can combine any accounts. Always check your insurances and fees with each to ensure you don’t lose the better benefits with combining or switching. Head to the State Revenue Service or Smart Money to check for other forms of lost money you might possibly have. One reader found $20,000 this way. Money Hunt in the House and CarWhile cash is not as common now, it can still surprise you where it might be. Between the lounge cushions and under the lounge Move all your furniture. If you haven’t cleaned it or checked under it for a while, you might be surprised. Almost every time I clean my lounge I find coins in the small spaces. Under appliances, including the fridge and TV. You'd be surprised where money sometimes ends up. Check all your clothing pockets, shoes, purses, wallets, in your drawers etc. Look for cash and any random scratchies, lotto tickets, gift cards and similar too. Go through your whole car and check every area, under seats, in all the little compartments, under car mats, all of it. Paperwork MoneyWe tend to avoid paperwork but you could have money sitting there. Are there any items you need to return and get a refund on? Have you done your tax? Are all your payments from Centrelink correct? Can you switch any bill payments such as insurance to annually to save money? You might be surprised how much money is sitting there waiting. Look for Things to SellAs part of your money hunt, look for things to sell and take the time to list them. I average 3 minutes to list an item on Facebook or eBay. Usually, I prefer to list only more expensive items but when I am doing a money hunt, I list anything. I’ve been amazed at what sells sometimes and how quickly. Take clear photos, write an accurate description and be prepared for time wasters. I have a full guide on reselling here for only $9.95. It arrived yesterday, the food was fresh, it worked out cheaper than buying it all from the supermarket but customer service was terrible and slow. I was unable to edit my meals as I got locked out of my own account so the meals we got are not meals we want. They put in the wrong recipe cards so we had to work out which ingredients go to what from the meal plans online. Would I get it again? Not without the discount.
